After the revolution, Nasser had sent 70,000 troops to support the republic in northern Yemen. However, they failed to break the royalist resistance. In 1967, under pressure from Saudi Arabia, Nasser withdrew his troops without prior consultation with Sanaa and even stole the Republican army’s heavy weapons. For the royalists, this was a golden opportunity to turn the war in their favor. They surrounded Sanaa and started the offensive. But citizen militias, backed by arms from China, organized in the city and the onslaught was repelled. The film shows the resistance in besieged Sanaa.
