Ivory Coast, 1977
Christianity was once the most important ally of colonial expansion. It played a vital role in the destruction of indigenous cultures and helped to integrate the colonised countries into global markets. Today, Arab governments use Islam in a similar way to bring Black Africa culturally and politically into their sphere of influence. Filmed on the Ivory Coast, this report documents the different aspects of the rapid spread of Islam in Africa.
